Creature FX and Fabrication

Triwizard Tournament - Making of Champions: The Hungarian Horntail is a central part of the special feature running at the Warner Brothers Studio Tour.

As huge fans of the original film it was an immense pleasure for Stitches and Glue to work with Joe Scott (Joe Scott Design Ltd) re-creating a living breathing Hungarian horntail dragon at our workshop.

The build itself posed a number of challenges for the team. Staying true to the original practical effect seen in β€˜Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ film and also offering the durability of performing every 20 minutes, 7 days a week.

The in-house fabrication team developed a number of bespoke solutions to create the wings and allow the large-scale animatronic to work without the need for constant maintenance. Offering reliability that was commended by the in-house technicians looking after the exhibit.

Our 3d modelling and printing department provided large scale flexible parts creating the dragons armour and winged arms

The animatronic is on display at the newly opened Triwizard Tournament feature at the #Harrypotter #warnerbrothers studio tour.
